Our Story
Built by players who were tired of bad pickup soccer.
MatchDay's beginning finds its roots in the partnership forged by two colleagues — Michael Hollman and Miguel Avendano — who were pursuing their Master's Degree in Soccer Business. Michael, born in the United States, brings a lifelong devotion to soccer and a passionate support of Liverpool FC. Miguel, born in Colombia, shares that same love for the game through his allegiance to Barcelona FC.
The MatchDay idea took shape when they identified a clear void in the US market: no dedicated platform existed to facilitate organized pickup sports matches. Group chats went silent. Games fell through. When they did happen, teams were lopsided and no one was running things.
MatchDay was built to solve it. An app that handles booking, team balancing, and on-site management — so players just show up and play a proper match. AI cameras film every game. Highlights are delivered the next morning. What started in Austin is now live in 9 cities across the US.
